Hakeem Baba-Ahmed: Tinubu Will Be Nigeria’s Worst President If Re-Elected in 2027

By Elizabeth Ugbo

Former Special Adviser to President Hakeem Baba-Ahmed has criticised Bola Tinubu, saying on Tuesday during an appearance on Political Paradigm on Channels Television that the President could become Nigeria’s worst leader if he wins a second term in 2027, citing insecurity, poverty, and what he described as poor political strategy ahead of the next general election.

Hakeem Baba-Ahmed Criticises Tinubu’s Second-Term Strategy

Baba-Ahmed said President Tinubu is gathering politicians to secure support for 2027. However, he argued that the strategy lacks depth.

“I see a president who is amassing all the politicians around him with the hope that those politicians will deliver him in the second term,” he said.

He described the move as poor thinking. He also said it does not reflect the Tinubu many Nigerians once admired.

According to him, relying on political alliances alone will not guarantee electoral success.

Claims of Rising Insecurity and Poverty

Furthermore, Baba-Ahmed said conditions have worsened since he left office. He stepped down as Special Adviser on Political Matters earlier in the administration.

He said insecurity has increased across the country. In addition, he pointed to rising poverty levels.

“Our nation has been more insecure than when I left,” he stated.

He added that desperation among citizens has deepened. He stressed that northern Nigeria faces severe hardship.

Moreover, he said everyday conversations reveal growing frustration among citizens.

Warning Ahead of 2027 Presidential Election

Baba-Ahmed warned that a second term for Tinubu could harm the country. He said leadership should focus on governance, not political survival.

“I think President Tinubu will make the worst president if he returns to power in 2027,” he said.

His remarks come amid growing political tension. Political actors have already begun positioning for the 2027 presidential election.

As campaigns slowly gather momentum, public debate over Tinubu’s performance continues.

Political Tension Builds Nationwide

The 2027 race has sparked fresh alignments across party lines. However, critics insist performance will shape voter decisions.

Baba-Ahmed’s comments add to the national conversation. They also highlight concerns about governance and security.

Meanwhile, supporters of the President argue that reforms require time. They say economic and security policies need sustained implementation.

The coming months will likely shape the political landscape. Nigerians continue to watch developments closely.
