Preliminary autopsy results have ruled out food poisoning in the deaths of two Nollywood crew members found inside a car in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos, on February 7, 2026. The victims, 36-year-old Walter Odediran and his childhood friend Godstime Imeh, were discovered inside a Nissan vehicle parked within the premises of Evercare Hospital, where a movie was being filmed. Pathologists conducted the autopsy to determine what caused their deaths.
Bodies Discovered at Filming Location
The lifeless bodies were found inside a Nissan car owned by Imeh. The vehicle was parked within the hospital compound during an ongoing film production.
Crew members raised the alarm after noticing their prolonged absence. Security officials later confirmed the deaths at the scene.
Autopsy Findings Dismiss Food Poisoning
Pathologists found no significant trace of food in the victims’ stomachs.
According to sources close to the investigation, one stomach was completely empty. The other contained only a small amount of food.
A source explained that the findings made food poisoning unlikely. Investigators therefore shifted focus to other possible causes.
Family Confirms Preliminary Report
Kola Odediran, elder brother of Walter Odediran, confirmed that the family received the preliminary autopsy results.
He stated that doctors completed the autopsy and found no food in his brother’s stomach. However, experts will still conduct toxicology and histology tests to determine the exact cause of death.
These additional tests will examine blood and tissue samples.
Toxicology and Histology Tests Underway
Medical experts will analyze the samples to check for harmful substances. These tests will reveal whether the victims inhaled or ingested toxic materials before their deaths.
Authorities expect the results within two to three weeks. Meanwhile, relatives continue to await answers about the tragic incident.
Victims Identified
Walter Odediran, 36, worked as a cinematographer in the Nollywood industry. His childhood friend, Godstime Imeh, served as a Lighting Director and Chief Executive Officer of GeeTee Light.
Both men had built strong reputations within the film production community in Lagos.
Community Awaits Final Results
The incident has sparked concern within the Nollywood community and Lekki residents.
For now, investigators continue their work. Families and colleagues hope the toxicology and histology reports will finally explain what happened on that tragic day in Lekki Phase 1.
