The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), RS5.3 Anambra Sector Command, on Sunday sensitised road users at Holy Trinity Anglican Church in Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State, to promote safe driving culture and reduce road crashes. The event targeted motorists, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and worshippers, focusing on responsible road use and compliance with traffic regulations.
FRSC Promotes Road Safety Awareness in Anambra
The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekauno, led the advocacy programme during the church service. She addressed worshippers on practical steps to improve safety on highways.
Asekauno stressed pedestrian safety and proper road crossing habits. She also highlighted the need to wear safety crash helmets at all times.
Furthermore, she warned against overloading and mixed loading, describing them as major causes of crashes. She cautioned drivers against speeding and reckless behaviour.
According to her, the campaign forms part of the Command’s public enlightenment strategy. The initiative aims to reduce road traffic crashes, injuries, and fatalities in Anambra State by 10 percent.
“We urge motorists, commercial drivers, motorcyclists, and pedestrians to embrace safe road practices,” she said. “Become proactive ambassadors of road safety within your communities.”
Church Partners FRSC on Safer Roads
The programme featured an interactive session. Worshippers asked questions and received clear answers on road safety concerns.
In addition, FRSC officials distributed flyers and awareness materials. These materials reinforced the safety messages shared during the service.
The officiating priest, Rev. Emmanuel Nwankwo, thanked the FRSC team for the visit. He offered prayers for the Corps and pledged the church’s support in spreading road safety messages.
Collaborative Effort for Safer Highways
The Unit Commander of RS5.35 Igbo-Ukwu Unit Command attended the event. Staff members and Special Marshals also participated, strengthening community collaboration.
Through consistent engagement, the FRSC continues to promote responsible road use across Anambra. The Command believes sustained advocacy will drive lasting behavioural change.
