The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State on Tuesday endorsed Bola Ahmed Tinubu as its sole presidential candidate for the 2027 general election during its state congress held to elect new party leaders for the next four years, with Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya leading party stakeholders in the affirmation.
Gombe APC Backs Tinubu for 2027
The endorsement came through a motion moved by the Chief Whip of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bello Kumo. Hon. Abdullahi El-Rasheed seconded the motion. Party members supported it overwhelmingly through voice affirmation.
Governor Inuwa Yahaya described the endorsement as a reward for courageous leadership. He said President Tinubu has shown vision and commitment during difficult times.
“At no time did we seek support without receiving it,” the governor said. “We now have purposeful leadership at the centre.”
He added that the party remains united and prepared for victory in 2027.
Congress Produces New State Leadership
Earlier, the party conducted its state congress using a consensus method. The Chairman of the Congress Committee, Dr. Danjuma Adamu Dabo, confirmed that all candidates passed screening without objections.
He thanked Governor Yahaya and party stakeholders for ensuring a smooth exercise. According to him, the peaceful process reflected strong internal democracy.
The newly elected state chairman, Mr. Mohammed Dantata Ndus, described the congress as historic. He promised to strengthen party unity and mobilise members for future elections.
“We will work as a team to deepen loyalty and deliver victory at all levels,” Ndus said.
Meanwhile, the outgoing chairman, Mr. Nitte Amangal, appreciated members for their support. He pledged continued commitment to party activities.
APC Membership Strengthens in Gombe
Governor Yahaya revealed that over 400,000 members registered during the recent e-registration and revalidation exercise. As a result, Gombe ranked 10th nationwide.
He credited the achievement to public confidence in APC-led governments. According to him, projects and policies have improved lives, especially in underserved communities.
“I am proud of what we have achieved,” he said. “This registration reflects the good work we continue to do.”
National Leadership Commended
The governor also praised the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, for promoting unity across the country. Furthermore, he commended committee members for conducting a credible congress.
Party leaders, including the deputy governor, lawmakers, commissioners and local government chairmen, attended the event.
Governor Yahaya reaffirmed that Gombe remains an APC stronghold. He stressed that unity remains the party’s greatest strength ahead of 2027.
