Spanish giants FC Barcelona are preparing a summer move for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen. Reports say the Catalan club wants to strengthen its attack ahead of the next transfer window. Barcelona’s sporting director, Deco, reportedly leads the plan. The move aims to replace veteran forward Robert Lewandowski, whose contract may expire this season. Meanwhile, Osimhen currently plays for Turkish champions Galatasaray and remains under contract until 2029.
Osimhen’s Rise at Galatasaray
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from SSC Napoli in September 2024. The Turkish club later completed a permanent transfer in 2025.
Since then, the Nigerian striker has delivered outstanding performances. He scored 53 goals in 65 appearances across all competitions.
As a result, he has become one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. His scoring form also strengthened Galatasaray’s attacking power.
In addition, Osimhen’s performances continue to attract attention from top European clubs.
Galatasaray Dismiss Exit Rumours
However, Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has rejected speculation about an imminent transfer.
Speaking to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Özbek confirmed that Osimhen’s contract contains no release clause.
“There is no release clause in Osimhen’s contract. He is an extremely successful footballer who will serve Galatasaray for many years,” he said.
Initially, the club paid €75 million to sign the striker permanently from Napoli in 2025. Nevertheless, his strong performances have significantly increased his market value.
Industry estimates now suggest Galatasaray could demand around €150 million if any club attempts to sign him.
European Giants Monitoring the Nigerian Star
Interest in Osimhen continues to grow across Europe. Clubs such as Juventus FC and FC Bayern Munich reportedly track the striker’s situation.
Furthermore, Barcelona legend Thierry Henry recently suggested the Catalan club needs a world-class striker. He mentioned Osimhen as one of the players capable of leading Barcelona’s attack.
Barcelona Planning Long-Term Attack Rebuild
Barcelona are rebuilding their squad as they prepare for the future. Therefore, the club wants a reliable goal scorer to lead the frontline.
Reports from The Athletic indicate that Deco views Osimhen as a perfect long-term solution.
However, Galatasaray’s firm stance and the striker’s long contract could make negotiations difficult.
