EFCC Arrests Suspects Transporting Suspected Solid Minerals in Niger
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission arrested three suspects on Sunday along Suleja-Maji Road in Niger State while transporting suspected solid minerals in three trucks to different locations across Nigeria for an undisclosed purpose.
According to EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale, operatives intercepted the trucks during a routine operation in the area.
Trucks Intercepted During Operation
EFCC officers stopped the vehicles after receiving intelligence about suspicious movement along the route.
The suspects allegedly transported the solid minerals to several destinations across the country. However, investigators have not confirmed the exact type of minerals or the intended use.
Meanwhile, the commission has taken the suspects into custody for further questioning.
Investigation Continues at Kaduna Zonal Directorate
Oyewale said the suspects are currently undergoing further investigation at the EFCC’s Kaduna Zonal Directorate.
Investigators are examining the origin of the minerals and the network behind the operation.
Suspects to Face Court Charges
The EFCC confirmed that the suspects will soon face prosecution.
After completing investigations, the commission will charge them to court according to Nigerian law.
Authorities say the operation reflects the EFCC’s commitment to tackling illegal mining and mineral trafficking in Nigeria.
