Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggy, sustained a gunshot injury on Sunday afternoon while filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge in Sango-Ota, Ogun State. Crew members rushed him to Blooming Care Hospital for treatment before doctors referred him to Duchess Hospital, where he is currently recovering. Authorities from Lagos State Police Command confirmed they received a report from the hospital and began inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Incident Happened During Skit Production
Sources revealed that Broda Shaggy and his team were filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge when the incident occurred.
Witnesses said the content creator suddenly suffered a gunshot wound to his thigh during the production.
His crew members quickly moved him from the scene and rushed him to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
Medical staff at Blooming Care Hospital immediately administered first aid upon his arrival.
However, doctors later referred him to Duchess Hospital in Ikeja for further medical care.
Police Confirm Hospital Alert
The spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development on Thursday.
She explained that the police became aware of the incident after receiving a report from the hospital.
According to her, detectives and patrol officers immediately visited the medical facility.
“The hospital contacted the police to report that a gunshot victim had been brought in,” Adebisi said.
She added that officers found the victim on a stretcher with a gunshot wound to his thigh.
However, she clarified that the shooting occurred in Sango-Ota, outside the Lagos police jurisdiction.
Despite this, authorities have started an investigation into the case.
Ogun Police Say Incident Not Reported
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident had not been officially reported in the state.
He stated that although the shooting allegedly happened in Ogun State, the command had yet to receive any formal complaint.
Manager Yet to Respond
Attempts to reach Broda Shaggy’s manager, Olufemi Oguntamu, popularly known as Penzaar, were unsuccessful.
Calls to his phone did not connect at the time of filing this report.
In addition, a text message sent to him remained unanswered.
Efforts to contact both hospitals also failed as calls to their listed phone numbers did not go through.
Broda Shaggy Recuperating in Lagos
Further findings revealed that doctors later transferred the comedian to Duchess Hospital in Ikeja.
He is currently recuperating while medical experts monitor his condition.
However, authorities have not yet disclosed the circumstances that led to the gunshot incident.
Investigations are ongoing to determine how the shooting happened during the skit production.
