The Nigeria Police Force has distributed N3.18 million to beneficiaries under its accident insurance scheme. The cheques were presented on March 12, 2026, in Kano by Commissioner of Police Ibrahim Bakori. The funds went to five next of kin and an injured police officer. The support came through the Group Personnel Accident Insurance Scheme. The initiative aims to assist officers and families affected by accidents and injuries.
Kano Police Command Distributes Insurance Cheques
The Kano State Police Command confirmed the development in a statement. The command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Kiyawa, released the statement on Thursday night.
According to him, the command distributed cheques totaling N3,188,685.80 to the beneficiaries.
He explained that the funds came through the Group Personnel Accident Insurance Scheme. The programme supports officers injured in the line of duty and families of affected personnel.
IGP Disu’s Commitment to Police Welfare
The command credited the initiative to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Officials said the programme reflects the IGP’s strong commitment to officers’ welfare. The initiative also supports families during difficult moments.
Furthermore, the command praised the policy as a practical step toward improving morale among police personnel.
Commissioner Urges Beneficiaries to Use Funds Wisely
During the presentation, Bakori delivered the IGP’s message to the beneficiaries.
He urged them to use the funds carefully for their health and well-being. In addition, he prayed for the souls of deceased officers.
Beneficiaries Express Appreciation
The beneficiaries thanked the police leadership for the support. They described the assistance as timely and helpful.
They also acknowledged the efforts of the Nigeria Police Force to protect and support its personnel and their families.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Police Command reaffirmed its dedication to professional service. The command also pledged continued attention to the welfare of its officers.
