Soludo Sworn In for Second Term, Dissolves Cabinet in Anambra

Governor Chukwuma Soludo was sworn in for a second term on Tuesday in Anambra State, where he immediately dissolved his cabinet, why to restructure governance, how through an official directive, when March 2026, and who attended including top national leaders.


High-Profile Dignitaries Attend Inauguration

The inauguration took place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka.

Notable attendees included Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Former presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan were also present.

Other dignitaries included Emeka Anyaoku and Siminalayi Fubara.


Soludo Takes Oath with Deputy

Governor Soludo took the oath of office alongside his deputy, Onyeka Ibezim.

The ceremony marked the beginning of his second term after winning the November 8, 2025 election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had earlier declared him the winner.


Governor Highlights Achievements

In his speech, Soludo emphasized progress in security and economic stability.

He stated that the sit-at-home order has ended across the state.

He added that schools, markets, and businesses now operate normally.

According to him, Anambra ranks among the safest states in Nigeria.


Cabinet Dissolution and Handover Directive

Meanwhile, the governor dissolved all political appointees in his administration.

He directed them to hand over to Permanent Secretaries or senior officials.

The instruction applies across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.

According to Nwabufo Nwankwo, the process must end by March 18, 2026.

Officials will oversee operations until a new cabinet forms.


New Cabinet Meeting Scheduled

Furthermore, first-term cabinet members must meet the governor on March 23, 2026.

The meeting will hold at the ANSEC Chambers in the Government House, Awka.

It is expected to shape the next phase of governance.
