Gunmen have killed a pastor, identified as Emmanuel Ezeoikwe, in the early hours of Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at his residence in Zinal village, Song LGA of Adamawa State, after armed attackers invaded his home and opened fire.
Attack Details
According to the Adamawa State Police Command, the incident occurred around 12:48 am.
The police spokesperson, Suleiman Nguroje, said the command received the report at about 6:30 am.
He explained that suspected gunmen stormed the village and shot the victim at close range.
Police Response
Police operatives quickly arrived at the scene after receiving the report. They found the pastor lying lifeless.
Officers rushed him to a nearby hospital, where a doctor confirmed him dead.
His body was later deposited in the morgue for an autopsy.
Evidence Recovered
Investigators recovered three empty AK-47 shells at the scene. This suggests the attackers used high-powered weapons.
Investigation Ongoing
The Commissioner of Police, Kabir Hassan, has ordered a discreet investigation.
He also deployed tactical teams to track down those responsible.
Meanwhile, the police urged residents to stay calm and support the investigation with useful information.
Rising Security Concerns
This killing has raised fresh concerns about security in rural communities across Adamawa. Residents now fear further attacks if perpetrators remain at large.
