By Elizabeth Ugbo

Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, who represents Kebbi South Senatorial District, resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) on May 14, 2026. He announced his exit in a letter addressed to the APC Ward Chairman of Rafin Zuru Ward in Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State. The senator blamed persistent internal crises within the party for his decision. His resignation comes days before the APC senatorial primary election scheduled for Monday and has intensified speculation about political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Maidoki Cites Internal Party Disputes

In the resignation letter, Maidoki said the ongoing disputes within the APC affected his political ambitions.

“I write to formally notify you of my withdrawal from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Rafin Zuru Ward,” the letter stated.

He also explained that the party’s unresolved internal issues raised serious concerns about his political future.

“This decision follows the persistent internal crises within the party, which have continued to pose serious concerns to my political aspirations,” he added.

Senator Appreciates APC Leadership

Despite leaving the party, Maidoki thanked the APC for giving him the platform to serve the people of Kebbi South.

The senator currently serves as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Legislative Compliance. In addition, he is the Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation.

Political Tension Grows in Kebbi APC

Maidoki’s resignation has increased political tension within the APC in Kebbi State. Party members continue to battle internal disagreements ahead of the senatorial primaries.

Political observers believe the development could reshape alliances in the state before the 2027 general elections.
