President Bola Tinubu has expressed joy after security forces rescued abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire community in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, following a 56-day operation. The President made the statement on Saturday, commending the military, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force for securing the victims’ release without casualties, arresting eight suspects, and neutralising other kidnappers.
Tinubu Commends Security Agencies
President Tinubu described the rescue mission as a major success for Nigeria’s security agencies. He praised the military, the DSS, and the police for their professionalism and commitment throughout the operation.
According to the President, the coordinated military, police, and intelligence-led mission ended more than 50 days of uncertainty for the victims and their families.
He noted that the operation brought relief to the affected families and the entire nation.
“I am profoundly happy that our security forces successfully rescued the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire, Ogbomoso in Oyo State after a military, police and intelligence-driven operation,” the President said.
President Mourns Victims’ Ordeal
President Tinubu expressed sympathy for the children, teachers, and their families. He acknowledged the emotional trauma they endured during the period of captivity.
He also pledged that his administration would ensure justice for the rescued victims and the family of Mr. Oyedokun, who was reportedly killed by the kidnappers.
The President stressed that those responsible for the crime would face the full weight of the law.
Oyo State Government Receives Commendation
Furthermore, President Tinubu praised the Oyo State Government for working closely with the Federal Government throughout the rescue operation.
He urged the state government to strengthen security around schools to prevent similar incidents.
The President said collaboration between federal and state authorities played a crucial role in achieving the successful rescue.
Emergency Support Ordered for Rescued Victims
President Tinubu directed emergency response agencies to work with the Oyo State Government to provide immediate medical care and relief support for the rescued children and teachers.
He said the victims should receive all necessary assistance to aid their recovery after the traumatic experience.
The President reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting schools, improving national security, and ensuring that criminal groups do not threaten the safety of Nigerian children.
