Six Killed, Two Injured in Kogi Road Crash

Six people were killed and two others injured on Saturday after a truck collided with a commercial vehicle along the Kabba–Odo-Ape Road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi State. The Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lawal Fagge, confirmed the crash on Sunday during a telephone interview with Channels Television.

Crash Involved Truck and Commercial Vehicle

The accident occurred along the busy Kabba–Odo-Ape route. According to Fagge, the collision involved a truck and a commercial vehicle.

Residents of Odo-Ape reportedly joined efforts to rescue victims trapped inside the wreckage. Emergency responders later arrived at the scene to assist with the rescue operation.

However, six victims died from injuries sustained in the crash. Two others also suffered varying degrees of injuries.

Bodies Deposited at Kabba General Hospital

Authorities evacuated the bodies of the deceased to the morgue. They were deposited at the General Hospital in Kabba.

Meanwhile, the injured victims received attention following the crash.

FRSC Warns Against Speeding

Fagge attributed the crash to speeding and warned motorists against dangerous driving.

He specifically cautioned drivers against excessive speed and unnecessary overtaking.

He also urged motorists to avoid driving when fatigued. According to him, tiredness can affect a driver’s ability to respond quickly.

Furthermore, he stressed the need for motorists to follow basic road safety measures.

He said responsible driving remains essential to reducing road crashes and fatalities on Nigerian highways.

The FRSC therefore urged motorists to exercise caution, especially along busy highways and accident-prone routes.
