President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria after completing his working vacation, with the President expected to arrive in Lagos later today. He left Abuja on August 30 and spent time in London before travelling to Paris for official and private engagements.
Tinubu Heads to Lagos
President Tinubu will first arrive at the Murtala Muhammed Airport in Lagos. He chose Lagos to honour the memory of Chief MKO Abiola, a key figure in Nigeria’s democratic struggle.
The President will attend the Independence Day premiere of a movie about Abiola. The event will take place at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre in Iganmu, Lagos.
Abiola won the June 1993 presidential election, which the military government later annulled.
President Tinubu Plans Lagos Meetings
During his stay in Lagos, Tinubu will hold strategic meetings with political leaders and associates. The meetings will focus on preparations for the 2027 elections.
After completing his political engagements, the President will return to Abuja.
Tinubu’s Paris Engagements
During his stay in Paris, Tinubu attended a private dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron.
He also held discussions with business leaders, including Vincent Bolloré of Bolloré Group. The group has interests across media, digital services and entertainment.
Its interests include Canal+, MultiChoice and Universal Music Group.
On Monday, Tinubu also met with Femi Otedola, Chairman of First Holdings.
Ogun Deep Seaport Investment
Last week, President Tinubu witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Ogun State and DP World.
The agreement covers the development of a Gateway Deep Seaport in Ogun Waterside. It also includes plans for a Blue Marine Economic Zone.
DP World, a major global ports and logistics operator, plans to invest $7 billion. The investment will support the proposed seaport and economic zone.
Tinubu’s Working Vacation
President Tinubu began his working vacation after leaving Abuja on August 30. He spent one week in London before continuing to Paris.
Following his engagements in Lagos, the President is expected to return to Abuja.
