The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has heightened health surveillance across Nigerian airports following the confirmation of an Ebola case in Abuja. The authority is collaborating with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Port Health Services and the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to strengthen public health measures and protect passengers, airport workers and the public.

FAAN Strengthens Airport Health Surveillance

FAAN announced the development in a statement signed by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire.

According to the statement, the authority remains vigilant across airport operations. It is also coordinating its response with relevant public health agencies.

Furthermore, FAAN will continue to follow official guidance from health authorities. The agency will also support additional measures considered necessary to protect public health.

Authority Urges Passengers to Remain Calm

Meanwhile, FAAN has urged passengers, airlines, airport users and other stakeholders to remain calm and vigilant.

The authority also encouraged the public to cooperate with health officials as they implement necessary preventive measures.

Additionally, FAAN advised Nigerians to rely on verified information from official sources. It warned against spreading unconfirmed reports that could cause unnecessary panic.

FAAN Reaffirms Commitment to Public Safety

FAAN’s response highlights the importance of cooperation between airport authorities and public health agencies during disease outbreaks.

Consequently, the authority will continue working with relevant agencies to support appropriate health measures across airport operations.

Passengers and other airport users should follow official health advisories and cooperate with designated health personnel.

The authority also reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding passengers, airport personnel and the wider public through continued vigilance and coordination.
