The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday held zonal congresses across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to elect leaders, adopt consensus candidates, and strengthen internal unity ahead of the 2027 elections. The congresses took place in cities including Asaba, Gombe, Enugu, Lagos, and Lafia. Party leaders, governors, and stakeholders attended. They reaffirmed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and outlined strategies to secure electoral victories nationwide.
North-Central Endorses Tinubu as Sole Candidate
The North-Central APC formally adopted President Tinubu as its sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, led the endorsement in Lafia, Nasarawa State. Governor Abdullahi Sule seconded the motion.
Stakeholders unanimously approved the decision. They expressed confidence in the zone’s voting strength. Akume described the region as Nigeria’s “glue” and a key electoral force.
North-East APC Adopts Consensus Leadership
In Gombe, the North-East APC adopted a consensus arrangement for electing zonal leaders.
Governor Mai Mala Buni described the process as constitutional and necessary for unity.
The congress attracted governors, lawmakers, and party executives. Leaders emphasized cohesion and strategic coordination across the region.
South-South Re-elects Giadom, Targets Vote Surge
In Asaba, Delta State, the South-South APC re-elected Victor Giadom as National Vice Chairman through consensus.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio urged members to deliver the highest votes in 2027.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori highlighted unity and grassroots mobilisation. Meanwhile, Governor Douye Diri praised consensus for reducing conflicts.
Other governors, including Umo Eno, Bassey Otu, and Siminalayi Fubara, stressed alignment with the federal government.
South-East Re-elects Arodiogbu, Signals Growth
In Enugu, the South-East APC re-elected Ijeoma Arodiogbu as National Vice Chairman.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu said the process reflected collective party will.
Governor Peter Mbah noted growing APC influence in the region. He urged leaders to build structures for Tinubu’s 2027 victory.
South-West Re-elects Kekemeke, Projects Victory
In Lagos, the South-West APC re-elected Isaacs Kekemeke as zonal chairman at Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu described the congress as peaceful and credible.
Kekemeke promised improved performance and overwhelming electoral victories. He also projected wins in Ekiti and Osun.
Party Leaders Rally for Unity and Strategy
Across all zones, APC leaders emphasized unity, grassroots mobilisation, and strategic planning.
They also commended President Tinubu’s reforms, linking them to economic improvements and development projects.
Governors and stakeholders urged members to remain active and avoid complacency ahead of the next election cycle.
