The Bauchi State Police Command on Thursday announced the deployment of massive security personnel and enhanced weaponry to Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri in Alkaleri LGA to curb rising banditry, restore law and order, and reassure residents following renewed security concerns in the area.
Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Habib, disclosed this during a press briefing in Bauchi. He said the action followed a recent resurgence of attacks in the affected communities.
Joint Security Operations Underway
Habib explained that the deployment involves joint operations. The police are working with the military, DSS, and NSCDC. Other security agencies also joined the operation.
According to him, security operatives have taken strategic positions across the troubled communities. They aim to suppress criminal elements and prevent further attacks.
He added that the Bauchi State Government supports the ongoing operations. As a result, early efforts have started yielding positive results.
Mansur Town Remains Safe
Habib assured residents that Mansur town remains safe despite incidents in neighbouring Gwana District.
“Despite recent incidents in neighbouring Gwana District, Mansur town remains unaffected, and there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
He urged residents who fled their homes to return. He stressed that security agencies have the situation under control.
No Safe Haven for Bandits
The Command warned that there will be no safe haven for bandits in Alkaleri LGA. Habib said security forces will sustain the operations until peace returns fully.
“In recent days, there has been a resurgence of security concerns in Gwana, Digare, and Kafin Duguri,” he stated.
“Following a thorough security assessment, the Command initiated a massive deployment of joint security personnel to suppress these criminal elements.”
He noted that border communities in the area have long faced infiltration from criminals operating from neighbouring states.
Police Seek Community Cooperation
Habib said the Commissioner of Police, Sani Omolori Aliyu, urged residents to support security agencies with timely information.
He encouraged citizens to report suspicious movements, strange faces, or objects within their communities.
The police also assured residents that all information will remain confidential. Therefore, residents should cooperate without fear.
Habib further advised citizens to continue their lawful activities. He stressed that improved security measures now protect lives and property across the affected communities.
