The Nigeria Police Force in Plateau State has arrested a suspected fake soldier and five others over unrest in Jos. The arrests happened on Wednesday in areas including Angwan Rukuba and Terminus. Police spokesperson Alfred Alabo confirmed the development during a phone interview. He explained that security operatives acted swiftly to restore calm and prevent further violence.

Arrest of Suspected Fake Soldier

Police officers apprehended the main suspect at Angwan Rukuba. Notably, the area recently witnessed a deadly Palm Sunday attack.

According to Alabo, the suspect dressed in an army singlet and an extra shirt. However, officers found a fake Nigerian Military School identity card on him.

He added that the suspect moved suspiciously before his arrest. Therefore, officers quickly intervened to avoid further tension.

Five Others Arrested for Criminal Activities

Meanwhile, police arrested five additional suspects across the Jos metropolis.

Alabo described them as hoodlums who exploited the unrest. Specifically, they targeted residents around the Terminus area.

“They snatched bags and money from unsuspecting members of the public,” he said.

As a result, security operatives moved in and dispersed the group.

Swift Security Response Restores Calm

Security agencies responded immediately when the situation escalated. Consequently, they restored order within a short time.

Furthermore, authorities reinforced security around key locations. These include the university environment and other strategic areas.

This proactive move aims to protect lives and property.

Police Urge Vigilance Among Residents

Alabo urged residents to remain calm but alert. In addition, he encouraged the public to report suspicious movements promptly.

He stressed that cooperation with security agencies remains vital.

Authorities also confirmed ongoing efforts to maintain peace and prevent further breakdown of law and order.
