On the 2026 Mother’s Day, First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu honoured mothers across Nigeria, recognising their love, sacrifices, and daily efforts that shape families and society. She praised women for nurturing children, building strong homes, and contributing to the nation’s future.
Mothers: The Silent Architects of the Nation
“Today, I celebrate every mother across Nigeria,” Oluremi said. “Your love, care, and sacrifices do not go unnoticed.” She described mothers as the “silent architects of the nation’s future and the enduring heartbeat of every home.”
Encouraging Mothers to Pass Down Wisdom
Oluremi urged mothers to continue teaching and guiding their children. She stressed that passing down wisdom and strength will benefit future generations.
“May we all live to enjoy the fruits of our labour over our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren,” she added.
Celebrating Everyday Acts of Love
Beyond major sacrifices, the First Lady highlighted the small, quiet moments that define a mother’s love. These moments form the foundation of strong families.
“To all mothers who nurture, love, and shape our families, you are the heroes of our nation,” Oluremi said.
Mother’s Day Around the World
Mother’s Day is celebrated globally, most commonly in March or May, to honour mothers, motherhood, maternal bonds, and their societal influence. In Nigeria, the day recognises women’s resilience, courage, and achievements.
