NCDMB Signs Management Deal for Radisson Hotel and Conference Center Yenagoa

By Elizabeth Ugbo

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) on Monday signed an International Management Agreement (IMA) with Radisson Hospitality Belgium and Edison Hotel and Property Development Company in Durban, South Africa. The agreement covers the 204-room Radisson Hotel and Conference Center located beside the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The signing aims to position the facility as a leading hospitality and conference hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.

Two-Year Process Secures Legal Backing

The Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Felix Omatsola Ogbe, confirmed that negotiations lasted over two years. During this period, the Board completed extensive reviews and compliance checks.

He stated that key stakeholders approved the agreement. These include the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi. Their approval ensured the contract aligns with Nigeria’s legal and regulatory standards.

Edison Corporation to Oversee Asset Performance

Executive Chairman of Edison Corporation, Vivian Reedy, described the company’s role as a bridge between the owner and the operator. He emphasized governance, transparency, accountability, and performance.

According to him, the project represents more than a hotel. Instead, it reflects a long-term partnership built on trust and shared vision.

He explained that Edison will safeguard the owner’s investment while supporting Radisson’s operational standards. He added that strong oversight and disciplined management will drive success.

Furthermore, Reedy revealed that Edison achieved up to 95 percent occupancy in similar partnerships with Radisson in other locations.

Radisson to Deliver Global Standards

Under the agreement, Radisson will manage hotel operations and maintain brand standards. NCDMB expects the partnership to deliver excellent guest experiences and strong financial performance.

The Board also pledged to complete construction on schedule. Ogbe assured stakeholders that the hotel will open in December. He stressed the importance of construction quality, safety compliance, and pre-opening readiness.

Boost for Bayelsa’s Oil and Gas Economy

NCDMB believes the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center Yenagoa will strengthen Bayelsa’s position as an oil and gas hub. The facility includes a fully equipped conference centre designed for industry stakeholders and the Nigerian public.

Ogbe noted that the investment supports local content development and attracts new business opportunities. He added that strategic projects like this expand tourism and boost productivity.

“When completed, the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center Yenagoa will stand as a symbol of strong partnerships,” he said.

The management agreement was signed in Durban by Ogbe, Reedy, and Radisson Director Garnier Erwan.
