Troops of the Nigerian Army have rescued 31 civilians abducted during an Easter church service in Ariko Village, Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation occurred on Sunday after terrorists attacked worshippers at an ECWA Church. Soldiers responded swiftly to a distress call, pursued the attackers, and engaged them in a firefight, leading to the successful rescue of victims.
Swift Military Response Foils Attack
The Nigerian Army said troops acted immediately after receiving intelligence about the attack. They mobilised to Ariko Village without delay.
With support from local residents, soldiers tracked the fleeing terrorists. They engaged them in a fierce firefight and overpowered them with superior firepower.
As a result, the attackers abandoned 31 hostages while escaping.
Casualties Recorded During the Attack
Despite the successful rescue, the Army confirmed casualties. Troops recovered the remains of five victims killed by the terrorists.
In addition, one rescued victim sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment.
Meanwhile, blood trails along escape routes suggest the attackers suffered heavy losses.
Troops Intensify Pursuit Operations
Following the rescue, troops have intensified operations to track down the fleeing terrorists.
Security forces are targeting their enclaves to prevent regrouping. Efforts also continue to rescue any remaining captives.
The Army stressed its determination to bring all perpetrators to justice.
Reinforcement Deployed to Strengthen Security
To prevent further attacks, the Nigerian Army has deployed additional troops to the area.
This move aims to strengthen security presence and protect lives and property.
It will also help sustain ongoing military operations across the region.
Army Calls for Public Support
The Nigerian Army reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens and defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
