Nigeria’s National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, has expressed grief over the death of Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai. She died on Friday, with the announcement made via Facebook by a family member. Ribadu shared his condolence message online, recalling personal moments with the deceased and praying for her soul. The news comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai.
Ribadu Pays Emotional Tribute
Ribadu described the late matriarch as a caring and motherly figure. He recalled fond memories of their interactions over the years.
He wrote, “I am deeply saddened by her passing. Words cannot ease such a profound loss.”
Furthermore, he prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings. He also asked God to grant her Aljannah Firdaus.
Family Confirms Death
Earlier, a family member announced her death on Facebook. The statement read, “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un.”
The family described her as a devoted mother and a strong pillar. They also prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
However, they did not disclose details about the cause of death at the time of reporting.
Legal Context Surrounding El-Rufai
Meanwhile, the development comes during ongoing legal issues involving El-Rufai.
The Federal Government had earlier filed charges against him at the Federal High Court in Abuja. Authorities accused him of unlawful interception of communications involving Ribadu during a television appearance.
Despite the situation, tributes continue to pour in from political allies and associates.
