The outreach will take place across selected locations in Lagos suburbs. Activities will begin on Friday at Ijede LCDA Council Hall, Ijede, Ikorodu.
On Saturday, the team will move to Imota Mini Stadium, Imota, Ikorodu.
From March 2 to March 4, services will hold at Alade Stadium, Command Road, Agbado/Oke-Odo in Alimosho.
According to Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the initiative forms part of activities marking the former president’s 89th birthday.
Free Ear, Eye and Cardiovascular Services
The Foundation’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Olalekan Makinde, said the Lagos Medical Mission will deliver comprehensive healthcare services at no cost.
Beneficiaries will receive free ear care services and hearing aids for qualified patients. In addition, medical teams will conduct detailed eye screenings and provide prescription glasses.
Doctors will also refer and sponsor patients who require eye surgeries.
Furthermore, the outreach will feature free cardiovascular screening, blood pressure checks and heart health assessments. Medical experts will offer preventive counselling and distribute essential medications free of charge.
Focus on Vulnerable and Underserved Communities
Makinde stressed that the outreach remains open to elderly residents, children and families across Lagos suburbs.
Individuals living with untreated hearing or vision challenges can access care during the programme. People with cardiovascular concerns will also benefit from specialised screenings.
He explained that the initiative reflects Obasanjo’s lifelong commitment to service and nation-building.
Through the Lagos Medical Mission, the Foundation continues to promote accessible healthcare and compassionate intervention for vulnerable Nigerians.
Legacy Initiative to Mark 89th Birthday
Makinde described the outreach as a legacy-driven humanitarian effort. He noted that the programme embodies Obasanjo’s vision of inclusive and affordable healthcare.
The Foundation expects more than 10,000 beneficiaries during the week-long exercise.
