Bola Ahmed Tinubu has promoted Ibrahim Kabiru Masari to Special Adviser on Political Affairs. The appointment was announced in 2026 in Nigeria to strengthen the president’s political advisory team. Tinubu elevated Masari from his previous role as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs, a position he held since 2023. The promotion recognizes Masari’s long-standing political loyalty and experience within the ruling party.

In 2023, President Tinubu appointed Masari as Senior Special Assistant on Political Affairs. In that role, he supported the presidency on political strategy and stakeholder engagement.

Masari hails from Katsina State in northern Nigeria. Over the years, he built a reputation as a loyal party member and strategist.
Notably, he served as Welfare Secretary of the All Progressives Congress during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as the party’s national chairman.

As Special Adviser, Masari will work alongside Yau Darazo. President Tinubu appointed Darazo in July 2023 to support political affairs within the presidency.
