Kakafu, Patigi LGA, Kwara State – Suspected bandits reportedly attacked the Kakafu community around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday, abducting four residents, firing gunshots, and leaving villagers in fear. The armed men stormed the remote agrarian settlement on the outskirts of Patigi town, operating without resistance before escaping with their victims.

Midnight Attack Sparks Panic

According to sources within the community, the assailants fired sporadically into the air, causing chaos and terror among residents. A forest guard, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the attack occurred during the dark hours, when security personnel could not access the village.

Victims Identified

The guard confirmed that one man and three females were kidnapped. The females reportedly include a mother and her two daughters. “They did not kill anyone. They only abducted the four victims and fired sporadically to create fear and confusion among the villagers,” he explained.

Community Remains Traumatized

Residents of Kakafu remain fearful of another raid, as the attackers are believed to be hiding in nearby villages. Panic has gripped the community, and many are hesitant to move around after nightfall.

Police Yet to Confirm Incident

When contacted, Kwara State Police Command spokesperson, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, said the command had not received official information about the attack but promised to provide updates once details are verified.

Rising Tension in Kwara State

This latest abduction follows a series of security threats in Kwara State. Recent reports indicate that armed groups have circulated threat letters to communities in Oyun and Kaiama LGAs, days after the deadly February 3 attack on Woro town, which reportedly left over 200 people dead and more than 100 abducted.
