Tinubu Orders Service Chiefs to Maiduguri After Deadly Borno Blasts

By Elizabeth Ugbo

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday ordered Nigeria’s service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri, Borno State, following deadly suicide bomb attacks that killed and injured several people, to strengthen security operations and restore stability in the region.

President Moves Swiftly to Strengthen Security

President Tinubu has taken decisive action after the recent attacks in Borno State. He directed top military and intelligence chiefs to move immediately to Maiduguri. This step aims to ensure faster coordination and stronger field leadership.

Furthermore, the President revealed that he had approved additional military equipment days before the incident. Security agencies have already begun deploying these resources to affected areas.

“No Safe Haven for Terrorists”

Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s firm stance against terrorism. He stressed that no part of Nigeria will serve as a refuge for criminals.

“There is no place in Nigeria where terrorists will find safety. We will locate them, confront them, and completely defeat them.”

He explained that recent attacks reflect desperation among terrorist groups facing sustained military pressure.

Attacks Signal Weakening Insurgents

According to the President, insurgents such as Boko Haram are losing strength. He noted that ongoing military operations have significantly reduced their capabilities.

Moreover, he described the attacks as “frantic attempts” to spread fear. He insisted that security forces continue to dominate the battlefield.

Emergency Support for Victims

Tinubu also ordered immediate assistance for victims of the attacks. Emergency response agencies must provide medical care and necessary support without delay.

In addition, he urged authorities to ensure proper relief for affected families and communities.

Condolences and National Solidarity

The President expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives. He extended condolences to families of victims and support to those injured.

“I mourn those who lost their lives, sympathise with the injured, and stand in solidarity with the people of Borno.”

Praise for Troops and Local Fighters

Tinubu commended Nigerian troops for their bravery in repelling coordinated attacks. He also praised civilian task forces for their resilience and support.

He emphasized that their sacrifices remain vital to national security efforts.
