Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified on Friday as Iranian officials joined a pro-government rally in Tehran, where demonstrators chanted against Washington and Israel. The rally came as Iran rejected renewed negotiations with the US and launched fresh drone and missile attacks on Israel and Gulf neighbours following ongoing US strikes on Iranian targets.
Iranian Officials Join Defiant Rally in Tehran
Several senior Iranian officials joined thousands of supporters during a government-backed rally in Tehran. Demonstrators waved banners and chanted slogans including “Death to America” and “Death to Israel.”
The rally showed strong domestic support for Iran’s response to recent US military actions. Many participants also condemned Washington’s continued strikes on Iranian targets.
Iran Rules Out Fresh Talks with the United States
Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran no longer considers negotiations with Washington.
In an interview with PBS News, Araghchi stated that Iran had a “very bitter experience” during previous negotiations with the United States.
“I don’t think talking with the Americans would be on our agenda anymore,” he said.
According to him, Iran will continue its response for as long as necessary.
Trump Claims Iran Seeking Deal
However, former US President Donald Trump claimed Iran now wants a deal with Washington.
Writing on his Truth Social platform, Trump argued that Iran had suffered major military setbacks.
“The Fake News Media hates to report how well the United States Military has done against Iran,” he wrote.
He added that Iran was “totally defeated” and seeking an agreement. However, Trump insisted he would reject any deal he considered weak.
US Strikes Target Iran’s Oil Hub
Earlier, Trump said US forces had heavily bombed military targets around Kharg Island, Iran’s main oil export hub.
He also announced that the US Navy would begin escorting commercial tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. The move aims to protect vital global oil shipments from potential attacks.
Iran Launches New Drone and Missile Attacks
Despite the US pressure, Iran intensified its military response. Tehran launched a fresh wave of drones and missiles targeting Israel and several Gulf states.
The attacks marked another escalation in the growing regional conflict. Analysts warn that continued strikes could further destabilise the Middle East.
