ABUJA — Prophet Isa El-Buba, Convener of the Initiative for a Better and Brighter Nigeria, has endorsed Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Adewole Adebayo for the 2027 presidential election. El-Buba made the declaration at an SDP event in Abuja, where he urged Nigerians to support Adebayo’s ambition. He said Adebayo possesses the leadership qualities needed to rebuild Nigeria and restore public confidence in governance. The cleric also pledged to mobilise support for the SDP candidate ahead of the election.
El-Buba Declares Support for Adebayo
El-Buba described the current political climate as the beginning of a national rebirth. He expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and congratulated SDP members for what he called a peaceful and successful gathering.
According to him, Nigerians are searching for purposeful leadership capable of addressing the country’s challenges.
He announced that members of his movement would work actively to mobilise support for Adebayo ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
“Nigerians seeking genuine national renewal should support leaders committed to restoring the country’s values and rebuilding public confidence in governance,” he said.
Cleric Calls for National Renewal
El-Buba lamented the nation’s worsening insecurity, unemployment, poverty and social injustice.
He noted that Nigeria possesses abundant human and natural resources. However, he said years of poor leadership have prevented many citizens from enjoying economic opportunities and quality education.
“Nigeria is blessed with abundant resources, intelligent people and great potential, yet millions still suffer from insecurity, unemployment, poverty and injustice,” he stated.
The cleric added that urgent action is necessary to reverse the country’s decline.
“Now is the time for us to join forces and rewrite history. Nigeria cannot continue to experience pain, frustration and clueless leadership,” he added.
Warning Against Vote Buying
Furthermore, El-Buba criticised vote-buying and political inducement during elections.
He argued that Nigerians have become more politically aware and would no longer exchange their future for temporary benefits.
“Nobody will buy the conscience of Nigerians with money or a bag of rice. Nigerians are tired, and it is time to recover the glory of our country,” he said.
Opposition to One-Party State
The cleric also warned against attempts to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.
According to him, democracy can only thrive when justice, fairness and political competition exist.
“Nigeria cannot become a one-party state. Every system survives on justice and equity. Oppression is never the pathway to stability, and peace cannot thrive where injustice exists,” he stated.
He stressed that national stability depends on fairness and equal opportunities for all political actors.
Call for Unity Among SDP Members
El-Buba urged SDP members to remain united as they work towards repositioning Nigeria.
He said collective action and strong leadership are necessary to address the country’s challenges and create a better future for citizens.
The cleric expressed confidence that Nigeria can overcome its difficulties if leaders prioritise justice, accountability and national development.
