Historic Shooting Performance Lifts Bulldogs
Josh Hubbard powered Mississippi State to a thrilling 91-85 upset over Auburn, scoring a career-high 46 points—just one shy of the school record.
Hubbard shot 15-of-27 from the field and 10-of-16 from three-point range, setting a new school record. He also grabbed a career-high nine rebounds, added three assists, and recorded two steals with zero turnovers.
He dominated early, scoring 35 points in the first half alone while Auburn managed only 33 points as a team. That 35-point half marked the first of its kind in college basketball since 2020, giving the Bulldogs momentum heading into the second half.
Clutch Gene Seals the Upset
Auburn adjusted defensively in the second half, slowing Hubbard’s scoring. Still, he remained composed.
With under a minute left, Hubbard hit the go-ahead shot, securing the 91-85 victory. This marked his third consecutive game with at least 31 points, and he now leads the SEC with an average of 22.4 points per game.
Despite the win, Mississippi State sits 13-13 overall and 5-8 in SEC play. Yet Hubbard continues to deliver remarkable performances that energize fans.
Dwyane Wade Reacts to Cousin’s Breakout Night
Hubbard’s 46-point performance earned national attention, including praise from NBA legend and cousin Dwyane Wade.
They first met last season when Mississippi State faced SMU, and Wade has since supported Hubbard’s rise. This family connection adds extra excitement and recognition to Hubbard’s achievements.
A Bright Spot in a Challenging Season
While Mississippi State’s season has been uneven, Josh Hubbard continues to shine. He carries the offense, embraces big moments, and consistently delivers when the Bulldogs need him most.
For fans, watching Hubbard in maroon and white remains an absolute thrill.
