Police Arrest 10 Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Ransom in Akure

Police detectives in Ondo State have arrested 10 suspected kidnappers in Akure. The arrest followed a coordinated intelligence-led operation along Ondo Road. Officers recovered ransom money and an operational motorcycle. The Ondo State Police Command carried out the raid. The operation targeted a kidnapping syndicate terrorising residents in the state capital.

How the Operation Unfolded

According to the Command’s spokesperson, Jimoh Abayomi, the arrest marked a significant breakthrough.

He explained that the Anti-Kidnapping Section worked with visiting Police Mobile Force personnel. Police Headquarters approved and deployed the PMF team to Ondo State for operational support.

Acting on credible intelligence, operatives mobilised swiftly to locations along Ondo Road. Consequently, they tracked and apprehended the suspects without delay.

Suspects Arrested in Akure

Abayomi confirmed that officers arrested the following suspects:

  • Muritala Muhammed, 22
  • Mustapha Adamu, 20
  • Usman Ibrahim, 25
  • Amisu Aruna, 28
  • Asiru Abdulasis, 20
  • Abduliu Sanni, 22
  • Ibrahim Suraju, 20
  • Noah Isiaku, 20
  • Abdulahi Suraju, 20
  • Arabi Hamet, 18

Investigators believe the suspects belong to a kidnapping syndicate operating within Akure and surrounding communities.

Ransom Money and Exhibits Recovered

During the raid, officers recovered ransom money collected from victims. Notably, part of the cash included burnt currency notes.

Authorities are documenting the recovered items as exhibits. Furthermore, investigators are processing the evidence to support prosecution.

The suspects have reportedly made confessional statements. They also detailed the specific roles each member played within the syndicate.

Police Assure Residents of Safety

The Ondo State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to tackling kidnapping and violent crimes. Abayomi assured residents that the Command remains resolute.

Moreover, he urged members of the public to provide timely and credible information. He stressed that community partnership remains vital in combating crime.

The Command continues efforts to identify and arrest other accomplices who may still be at large.
