ENUGU, Nigeria – Suspected kidnappers attacked a Catholic Parish House in Aguibeje, Enugu Ezike early Saturday morning, killing two Neighbourhood Watch operatives and injuring another. The assailants forced their way into the Parish House, prompting the priest to raise the alarm. Security sources confirmed the gunfight occurred as operatives responded to the scene.
Gunfight Leaves Victims Dead and Injured
The gunfight erupted after the priest raised the alarm. The Neighbourhood Watch operatives confronted the kidnappers, resulting in two deaths and serious injuries to another. Some kidnappers reportedly escaped with gunshot wounds.
Kidnappers Strike Local Residents
Family members confirmed that the kidnappers invaded Patrick Eze’s home in Umu Ossai clan, took food, and forcibly abducted him along with his daughter. The attackers fled toward nearby bushland connecting Aguibeje and Kogi State.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities continue to investigate the incident. The kidnappers have yet to contact the victims’ families or demand ransom. Security agencies are tracking the suspects in Enugu and surrounding areas.
