The Super Eagles will play Poland and Portugal in June friendlies to prepare for the FIFA World Cup. The matches will take place in Warsaw and an undisclosed venue, as confirmed by the Nigeria Football Federation in Abuja. These games aim to boost readiness ahead of the global tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

NFF Confirms High-Profile Fixtures

The NFF Director of Communications, Ademola Olajire, confirmed the fixtures in an official statement. He stressed their importance for team development and competitive readiness.

According to the schedule, Nigeria will face Poland on June 3 at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw. The team will then play Portugal on June 10 at a venue yet to be announced.

Matches to Boost Team Readiness

Olajire expressed strong confidence in the squad’s preparation. He said the games will sharpen performance and improve cohesion.

“These matches will strengthen the team and prepare us for future challenges,” he stated.

Moreover, he explained that the technical crew will use the fixtures to assess players against top European sides.

Opportunity to Test Tactics and New Players

The friendlies will also allow experimentation. Coaches plan to test new players and tactical approaches.

“Facing Poland and Portugal gives us a chance to measure our strength and adjust where needed,” Olajire added.

As a result, the team expects to build better chemistry before major competitions.

Unity Cup and Recent Form Build Momentum

Before the June friendlies, Nigeria will defend their title at the Unity Cup in London from May 26 to May 30.

Meanwhile, the team already shows promising form. They recently defeated Iran and drew with Jordan in Turkey.

These results highlight steady progress as the three-time African champions prepare for a busy international schedule.
