The Ondo State Police Command has deployed operatives to Akotogbo community in Irele Local Government Area after residents discovered the bodies of two men in a nearby bush. The victims, identified as Loyinmi Bode and Andrew Friday, were found at separate locations within one month. Police spokesperson Abayomi Jimoh confirmed the incidents on Wednesday and said security agencies had intensified operations to restore calm and protect residents.

Community Residents Demand Urgent Action

The tragic discoveries have sparked fear and tension across the agrarian community. Consequently, residents have called on security agencies and the Ondo State Government to intervene quickly.

Many residents now fear for their safety as uncertainty grows within the community. However, security officials assured locals that efforts were ongoing to prevent further violence.

Police Strengthen Security Presence

Confirming the development, Police Public Relations Officer Abayomi Jimoh said the command had already taken proactive steps to secure the area.

According to him, security operatives have increased surveillance across Akotogbo and neighbouring communities. He added that officers remain committed to protecting lives and property.

“The command is fully aware of these developments and remains resolute in its constitutional mandate of protecting the lives and property of all law-abiding residents of Ondo State,” Jimoh said.

He also stated that authorities had introduced stronger security measures to maintain peace and public safety.

“In response, robust security measures have been emplaced within Akotogbo and its adjoining communities to prevent any breakdown of law and order and ensure sustained public safety,” he added.

Police Launch Investigation Into Killings

Meanwhile, the police said investigations had begun to uncover those behind the deaths. Jimoh noted that efforts were ongoing to identify, arrest, and prosecute the perpetrators.

Residents now hope the increased police presence will help restore confidence and prevent additional attacks in the community.
