AfCFTA Launches Startup Acceleration Programme for African Entrepreneurs

The African Continental Free Trade Area Secretariat, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Korea-Africa Foundation, has launched the AfCFTA Startup Acceleration and Partnership Programme 2026. The programme targets African startups, including Nigerian entrepreneurs, and aims to boost trade, innovation, and private-sector partnerships under the AfCFTA framework. Organisers announced the initiative through the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday. Interested startups can apply through the official AfCFTA portal before May 31, 2026.

Programme Targets African Startups

The programme will support about 30 selected African startups operating in key sectors. These sectors include fintech, digital commerce, manufacturing, logistics, and agricultural value chains.

In addition, the initiative seeks to strengthen economic cooperation between African countries and South Korea. It also aims to promote sustainable development and cross-border business opportunities.

Benefits for Selected Participants

Successful applicants will receive several business support opportunities. These include mentorship, capacity-building programmes, and market exposure.

Participants will also gain access to investment networking opportunities in South Korea. Furthermore, the programme will help startups expand partnerships and improve their business scalability.

Ministry Encourages Nigerian Entrepreneurs to Apply

The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged qualified entrepreneurs and innovators to take advantage of the programme.

According to the ministry, startups with innovative and scalable business models should apply. The ministry added that the initiative will improve Africa-Korea commercial engagement and support regional economic growth.
