Gunmen abducted three students of the Federal University of Lafia on Tuesday night at Living Seed Lodge, a student residence on the outskirts of Lafia, Nasarawa State. The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the attack on Wednesday, saying security operatives immediately launched a rescue operation after receiving the report and successfully rescued one student while continuing efforts to free the remaining two victims.
Police Confirm Kidnapping Incident
The Nasarawa State Police Command confirmed the abduction in a statement issued on Wednesday by its Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.
According to the command, the attack occurred at Living Seed Lodge, located in a bushy area near the university’s student residential community in Lafia.
The university’s Chief Security Officer alerted the police at about 9:20 p.m. He reported that armed men had invaded the lodge and abducted three students.
Police Launch Immediate Rescue Operation
Following the report, the Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed, ordered the immediate deployment of tactical teams, patrol units and other security personnel to the scene.
Security operatives swiftly combed the surrounding forest in a coordinated search operation.
Their efforts led to the successful rescue of one of the kidnapped students.
Search Continues for Two Remaining Students
The police said security teams have intensified operations to rescue the remaining two students and arrest the kidnappers.
CP Shetima Jauro Mohammed directed all operational and intelligence units to sustain pressure on the criminals until the victims regain their freedom.
He also assured residents that the command remains committed to bringing those responsible to justice.

The command appealed to residents to remain calm and support ongoing security operations.
It urged members of the public to stay vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies.
Residents should also report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station to strengthen security efforts.
