The Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) have pledged stronger collaboration to improve revenue mobilization in Nigeria’s extractive sector. The commitment came on Friday, August 28, 2026, at RMAFC headquarters in Abuja, when NEITI Executive Secretary, Hon. Musa Sarki Adar, visited RMAFC Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu. Both institutions seek to strengthen transparency, accountability, data sharing and revenue generation from Nigeria’s natural resources.
RMAFC Reaffirms Commitment to NEITI Partnership
Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu described the relationship between RMAFC and NEITI as strategic and mutually beneficial.
He said RMAFC values NEITI’s work in promoting transparency across Nigeria’s extractive industries.
The RMAFC chairman also reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to deeper cooperation with NEITI.
He praised the initiative for providing credible information on the sector’s operations and financial flows.
According to him, NEITI’s reports have improved public understanding of Nigeria’s natural resources.
They have also strengthened accountability in the management of extractive industry revenues.
“NEITI has earned a strong reputation through its consistent efforts to uncover facts, reconcile information and promote openness,” Shehu said.
He added that stakeholders must continue supporting the organization’s work.
Shehu Commends NEITI’s Transparency Efforts
The RMAFC chairman also recognized NEITI’s international partners for their support.
He urged stakeholders to strengthen NEITI’s capacity in data gathering and verification.
He also called for improved revenue transparency and accountability across the extractive sector.
Furthermore, Shehu assured NEITI of RMAFC’s continued support.
He said both institutions could expand cooperation in data sharing, research and revenue monitoring.
They could also collaborate on policy engagement and revenue assurance initiatives.
RMAFC Chairman Congratulates Musa Adar
Dr. Shehu also congratulated Hon. Musa Sarki Adar on his appointment as NEITI Executive Secretary.
He described the appointment as well deserved.
The RMAFC chairman expressed confidence in Adar’s ability to provide effective leadership.
“Your appointment is well deserved. You have demonstrated commitment, competence and diligence in your professional career,” Shehu said.
He added that Adar’s experience would help NEITI achieve greater results.
NEITI Seeks Stronger Revenue Monitoring Partnership
In his remarks, Hon. Musa Sarki Adar described the RMAFC-NEITI relationship as longstanding.
He said both institutions share a commitment to transparency and accountability.
Adar noted that the partnership must now move to a higher level.
“The relationship between NEITI and RMAFC is not new. It is a partnership built over time, and we must now take it to a higher level,” he said.
He highlighted RMAFC’s role in monitoring revenues accruing to the Federation Account.
The Commission also advises on ways to improve revenue collection and accountability.
According to Adar, these responsibilities remain important for Nigeria’s natural resource sector.
Reliable Data Key to Nigeria’s Revenue Growth
The NEITI executive secretary stressed the importance of reliable extractive industry data.
He said accurate revenue information supports fiscal management and public accountability.
It also helps policymakers make informed decisions.
Adar explained that NEITI independently reconciles financial and physical flows within the extractive sector.
Its reports provide information on revenues, payments, production and exports.
The reports also cover company activities across oil, gas and mining operations.
“NEITI’s reports can support RMAFC’s work in revenue monitoring, verification, policy analysis and the development of measures to improve revenue mobilization,” Adar said.
Nigeria’s EITI Implementation Creates New Opportunities
Adar also discussed Nigeria’s ongoing 2026 EITI implementation under the 2023 EITI Standard.
He described the process as an opportunity to demonstrate measurable progress.
According to him, Nigeria can strengthen governance across its extractive industries through the initiative.
The 2023 EITI Standard focuses on data reliability and systematic disclosure.
It also promotes transparency in revenue flows and institutional collaboration.
These priorities align closely with RMAFC’s mandate, Adar noted.
Therefore, both organizations can deepen cooperation through the EITI framework.
RMAFC Invited to Global EITI Conference
Hon. Adar invited RMAFC to the Global EITI Conference.
The conference will take place from October 8 to 9, 2026, in Brussels, Belgium.
Nigeria is expected to showcase its progress in natural resource governance.
Adar urged RMAFC to participate actively in the event.
He also called for stronger cooperation among NEITI, RMAFC and other agencies.
The proposed areas include data sharing, research and capacity building.
They also include revenue mobilization and policy dialogue.
Institutions Seek Better Resource Governance
Adar said both institutions should build a stronger framework for revenue assurance.
He stressed the need for coordinated institutional efforts.
“Our objective should be to build a more coordinated institutional framework for revenue assurance and resource governance,” he said.
He added that stronger cooperation could improve oversight across Nigeria’s extractive industries.
It could also support evidence-based policymaking and better revenue management.
Officials Attend RMAFC-NEITI Meeting
The meeting attracted senior officials from RMAFC.
They included the Commission’s Secretary, Comrade Tosin Adeyanju.
Several directors and special advisers to the RMAFC chairman also attended.
The Director of the Solid Minerals Department, Mal. Rabiu Kabiru, delivered the vote of thanks.
He thanked the NEITI delegation for visiting the Commission.
Kabiru reaffirmed the importance of the partnership between both institutions.
He expressed confidence that their cooperation would continue producing positive results.
According to him, stronger collaboration will benefit both institutions and Nigeria as a whole.
