Former Ekiti State Governor Chief Segun Oni has received birthday tributes from political leaders and stakeholders as he turns 72. Oni, who served as governor from 2007 to 2010, received praise for his contributions to Ekiti’s political growth and development. Among those celebrating him are All Progressives Congress chieftain Senator Ayo Arise, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji and other political stakeholders.

Arise, a former National Assembly member, shared his message with journalists in Ado Ekiti on Sunday evening.

Oni’s Political Career
Chief Segun Oni served as Ekiti State governor between 2007 and 2010.
However, a Court of Appeal judgment later ordered a rerun in parts of the state.
The ruling followed disputes surrounding the 2007 governorship election.
Despite leaving office, Oni remained active in Nigerian politics.
He later served as National Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Oni subsequently joined the All Progressives Congress and became a prominent party chieftain.
As a trained engineer and politician, he has maintained a strong presence in public affairs.
Arise Praises Oni’s Legacy
Arise said Oni’s tenure represented purposeful leadership and infrastructural development.
He also described his public service record as exceptional and worthy of emulation.
The senator urged Nigerian politicians to learn from Oni’s approach to leadership.
