President Bola Tinubu has congratulated businessman and philanthropist Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, on his 60th birthday. In a special tribute, Tinubu celebrated Aig-Imoukhuede’s achievements in business, public service and philanthropy. He also praised his contributions to Nigeria’s financial sector and public institutions.
Tinubu Celebrates Aig-Imoukhuede’s Business Journey
President Tinubu said he had followed Aig-Imoukhuede’s journey in business and public life over the years.
He described him as part of a generation of Nigerians who took bold steps for the country.
According to Tinubu, Aig-Imoukhuede helped prove that Nigerian institutions could compete globally.
His years at Access Bank remain an important part of that journey.
Aig-Imoukhuede became Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank in 2002.
He later led the bank through a period of significant growth.
Today, he serves as Chairman of Access Holdings Plc and Coronation Group.
Contributions to Nigeria’s Financial Markets
Tinubu also highlighted Aig-Imoukhuede’s contributions to Nigeria’s financial markets.
He served as President of the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
He also became the founding Chairman of FMDQ Securities Exchange.
Currently, he serves as Co-Chairman of EnterpriseNGR.
Through these roles, Aig-Imoukhuede has contributed to the growth of Nigeria’s financial sector.
Aig-Imoukhuede’s Public Service Role
President Tinubu also praised Aig-Imoukhuede’s willingness to accept public responsibilities.
In 2012, he chaired the Presidential Committee on the Verification and Reconciliation of Fuel Subsidy Payments.
The assignment came during an important period for Nigeria.
Tinubu described the responsibility as a difficult but significant national assignment.
Tinubu Commends Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation
The President particularly commended Aig-Imoukhuede and his wife, Ofovwe, for their work through the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation.
The foundation focuses on strengthening public service and developing public servants.
It also supports initiatives aimed at improving healthcare.
Tinubu praised the couple for investing their experience and resources in Nigeria’s development.
He said Aig-Imoukhuede continues to contribute to national progress despite his success in private enterprise.
Tinubu Celebrates Aig-Imoukhuede at 60
President Tinubu described 60 as an important milestone in Aig-Imoukhuede’s life.
He noted that the birthday also offers an opportunity to reflect on a career that has influenced many institutions.
According to Tinubu, Aig-Imoukhuede’s journey has also opened opportunities for many Nigerians.
The President joined Ofovwe, their children, family, friends and associates in celebrating the milestone.
Tinubu wished Aig-Imoukhuede good health, happiness and many more years of service.
He also extended his best wishes for continued contributions to Nigeria and humanity.
