Vice President Kashim Shettima has declared that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has fulfilled his promises to rebuild Nigeria through economic reforms, infrastructure and social interventions. Shettima made the statement on Thursday during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, ahead of the 2027 presidential election. At the rally, Ekiti residents pledged 90 per cent of registered voters for Tinubu’s re-election. Meanwhile, governorship candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) also promised to support the President.
Shettima Defends Tinubu’s Economic Reforms
Speaking before thousands of APC supporters, Shettima acknowledged the sacrifices Nigerians have made since Tinubu assumed office.
He maintained that the administration’s difficult economic decisions were beginning to produce positive results.
According to him, Tinubu has remained committed to the promises made to Nigerians.
“We know the sacrifices you have made, and we are beginning to reap the benefits of those difficult decisions,” Shettima said.
He explained that the administration had returned to present its achievements and outline unfinished responsibilities.
Furthermore, he appealed to Ekiti residents to renew Tinubu’s mandate in the forthcoming election.
He promised continued attention to healthcare, electricity, education and other essential services.
FG Upgrades Healthcare Facilities in Ekiti
Shettima highlighted the Federal Government’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery across Ekiti State.
He cited the conversion of the former State Specialist Hospital in Ikole-Ekiti into a Federal Medical Centre.
The facility will complement the Federal Teaching Hospital in Ido-Ekiti.
According to the Vice President, these interventions demonstrate the administration’s commitment to accessible healthcare.
Shettima Highlights Electricity Projects
The Vice President also outlined ongoing electricity projects across the state.
He disclosed that equipment had arrived for substations in Ilupeju and Ijesa-Isu.
Additionally, work continues on the Ikere switching station.
The Federal Government has also approved additional electricity distribution lines.
It has transferred regulatory authority over Ekiti’s intrastate electricity market to the state government.
Shettima said these interventions would strengthen electricity distribution and improve residents’ living conditions.
Federal Government Intensifies Road Construction
On infrastructure, Shettima highlighted several federal road projects across Ekiti State.
He confirmed that construction work had progressed on the Akure–Ikere–Ado-Ekiti road.
Meanwhile, reconstruction has started on the Itawure–Aramoko–Ado-Ekiti road.
Other federal road projects cover Aramoko, Ijero, Ifaki, Oye, Ikole and Omuo.
He stressed that the government remained committed to completing outstanding projects.
“Every unfinished road is a responsibility awaiting fulfilment,” he stated.
Ekiti Benefits From Federal Education Programmes
Shettima also highlighted the administration’s investments in education.
He recalled the establishment of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin-Ekiti.
Furthermore, students at Ekiti State University and Bamidele Olumilua University have benefited from NELFUND student loans.
The Vice President also mentioned the new ICT Experience Centre at Ekiti State University.
He said the centre received support through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
According to him, the administration wants every Nigerian child to access quality education.
He particularly emphasised the importance of supporting students in Ekiti, widely recognised as the land of professors.
FG Supports Farmers Through Agricultural Programmes
The Vice President also identified agricultural interventions among the Federal Government’s achievements.
He said participating farmers had gained better access to fertilisers and planting materials.
These initiatives, he explained, would strengthen agricultural production and support livelihoods.
Ekiti Residents Promise 90 Per Cent Support for Tinubu
Following the mega rally, Ekiti residents declared their readiness to deliver 90 per cent of registered voters for Tinubu.
They attributed their support to federal infrastructure projects and other interventions across the state.
According to the residents, these projects have improved communities and created opportunities for development.
They consequently expressed confidence in the Tinubu-Shettima administration’s second-term bid.
Governor Biodun Oyebanji welcomed the overwhelming support for the President.
He also described the endorsement by opposition figures as evidence of the Federal Government’s positive impact.
Oyebanji promised that Ekiti residents would reward Tinubu through their votes.
“We will use our votes to say thank you to a President who has given approval for so many federal roads and other critical projects in Ekiti State,” he declared.
He reiterated the state’s commitment to delivering at least 90 per cent support for Tinubu.
PDP, SDP and APM Candidates Endorse Tinubu
In a major political development, opposition governorship candidates from Ekiti State pledged support for Tinubu’s re-election.
The candidates contested under the PDP, SDP and APM platforms during the last governorship election.
They promised to mobilise their supporters for the APC presidential candidate.
They explained that their decision transcended political differences.
Instead, they cited Ekiti’s unity and continued development as reasons for their support.
Their endorsement added a significant political dimension to the APC presidential campaign rally.
APC Leaders Highlight Tinubu’s Achievements
APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
He cited the administration’s efforts to reduce the tax burden on small business owners.
Yilwatda also highlighted NELFUND, road construction and the establishment of federal institutions.
He described these programmes as evidence of Tinubu’s commitment to improving Nigerians’ welfare.
Similarly, APC Presidential Campaign Council Director-General, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, urged Ekiti residents to support Tinubu.
He said the President had promised greater development for the state during another term.
Yari also appealed to South-West voters to demonstrate their support through massive votes.
Oshiomhole Praises Tinubu’s Economic and Security Policies
Former APC National Chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, also defended the administration’s performance.
He identified the student loan scheme as one of Tinubu’s landmark achievements.
According to him, the programme supports Nigeria’s transition towards a global knowledge economy.
Oshiomhole also mentioned increased military recruitment and foreign exchange market stabilisation.
He further pointed to the country’s economic growth as evidence of progress.
He maintained that another Tinubu administration would promote continuity and prosperity.

Serving and former senators attended the event alongside members of the House of Representatives.
