Air Peace has temporarily suspended its scheduled Lagos–London Gatwick flight after engineers detected a minor technical fault during a routine aircraft check on Saturday. The issue emerged after passengers boarded the aircraft at Lagos airport. Consequently, the airline disembarked all passengers, arranged hotel accommodation, and deployed a replacement aircraft from London to resume the journey safely.
Routine Safety Check Detected Fault
The airline disclosed the development in a statement shared on its X handle on Saturday. According to the carrier, engineers discovered the fault during a routine post-boarding inspection.
“Following the completion of passenger boarding, a routine post-boarding technical check identified a minor aircraft fault that required immediate attention,” the airline stated.
As a result, the airline immediately withdrew the aircraft from service to prevent further risks.
Air Peace Provides Support for Stranded Passengers
After suspending the flight, Air Peace informed affected passengers about the situation. In addition, the airline provided hotel accommodation and other support services to reduce inconvenience.
The carrier also announced plans to deploy a replacement aircraft from London.
“To minimise further disruption, a replacement aircraft from London will be dispatched and passengers are scheduled to depart this morning,” the airline explained.
Airline Prioritises Passenger Safety
Air Peace stressed that passenger safety remains its highest priority. The airline noted that suspending the flight was necessary despite the disruption to travel schedules.
“At Air Peace, the safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew will always take precedence over operational schedules,” the statement read.
Furthermore, the airline described the decision as a responsible preventive measure.
“While we understand the inconvenience this situation may have caused, taking swift preventive action was the responsible and necessary decision,” it added.
Passengers Appreciate Airline’s Response
The airline thanked passengers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout the disruption.
“We deeply appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation shown by our passengers during this period. Their trust remains incredibly important to us,” the statement added.
Air Peace also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable flight operations on its international routes.
