Dollar to Naira Exchange Rate Today, September 2, 2026

By Elizabeth Ugbo

The dollar-to-naira exchange rate remained in focus on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, as Nigerians tracked forex rates across official and parallel markets. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) reported an official NFEM rate of N1,329.43 per dollar. Meanwhile, parallel-market dealers quoted the dollar between N1,400 and N1,410. The movements reflect changing forex supply, demand and market conditions across Nigeria.

Official Dollar to Naira Rate Today

The latest available NFEM data showed the naira trading at N1,329.43 per US dollar.

The currency closed at N1,329.00 per dollar on September 1.

The NFEM rate uses the volume-weighted average of official forex transactions.

Therefore, the latest benchmark places $1 at approximately N1,329.43.

Similarly, $100 would exchange for about N132,943 at the official rate.

Parallel Market Dollar to Naira Rate

Meanwhile, the parallel forex market continued to quote the dollar above the official rate.

Live data published by Aboki Forex on September 2 showed varying market rates.

The dollar reportedly bought for about N1,400 in the parallel market.

It sold for approximately N1,405.

However, another market tracker, NairaToday, quoted the dollar around N1,410.

The difference highlights the rate variations among parallel-market dealers.

Why the Dollar Rates Differ

The gap between both markets reflects different trading conditions.

The official market operates within Nigeria’s regulated foreign exchange system.

In contrast, parallel-market rates respond mainly to immediate supply and demand.

Consequently, exchange rates can vary between dealers and locations.

Transaction size can also influence the final rate offered to customers.

What Nigerians Should Know

Nigerians buying or selling dollars should check the prevailing rate before completing transactions.

Parallel-market rates can change several times within a single day.

Therefore, today’s quoted rate may differ from the rate offered later.

Bank charges, dealer margins and transaction conditions can also affect the final amount.
