DSS Rescues Kano LG Secretary, Arrests Two Suspects

The Kano State Government has confirmed that operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) rescued Alhaji Hamza Durya, Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, on Wednesday, days after gunmen abducted him from his residence in Durya village, Kano State, during a coordinated security operation that also led to the arrest of two suspects.


How the Abduction Happened

Gunmen abducted Durya on Friday night at his residence in Durya village, Kibiya Local Government Area.

According to eyewitnesses, about six attackers arrived on motorcycles. They carried out the operation quickly and without firing shots.

Family members were present during the incident. However, the attackers left them unharmed and targeted only the victim.


DSS Operation Leads to Rescue

Security operatives launched a coordinated operation that resulted in Durya’s rescue.

The Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Waiya, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.

He added that security forces arrested two suspects during the operation. The suspects also sustained gunshot injuries.


Government Commends Security Agencies

The Kano State Government praised the DSS and other security agencies for their swift response.

Officials noted that the operation reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the state.

“The achievement underscores sustained efforts to combat crime across all 44 local government areas,” the statement said.


Governor Abba Yusuf Lauded

The government also commended Governor Abba Yusuf for supporting security agencies.

It stated that his administration has provided resources to improve operational capacity.

As a result, security agencies have responded more effectively to threats.


Call for Public Cooperation

Authorities reassured residents of their commitment to protecting lives and property.

They urged the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.

“Public cooperation remains vital in strengthening the state’s security architecture,” the statement added.


A Boost for Security Efforts

Officials described the rescue as a significant success.

They said it demonstrates the dedication and professionalism of security personnel.

Furthermore, it signals progress in the fight against criminal activities in Kano State.
