The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition after raiding a suspected bandits’ hideout in Dajin Madam Forest between Plateau and Bauchi states. The operation took place on August 2, following intelligence gathered from an arrested suspect. Police said the raid targeted an arms supply syndicate linked to a wanted bandit kingpin hiding in Katsina State. The operation forms part of ongoing intelligence-led efforts to dismantle criminal networks and improve security.
Intelligence Leads Police to Forest Hideout
The Police Public Relations Officer, Josephine Adeh, disclosed that operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit conducted the operation after receiving credible intelligence from one of four arrested suspects.
According to her, the suspect, identified as Musbahu Ishaq, revealed the location of one of the syndicate’s hideouts in Dajin Madam Forest.
The intelligence prompted security operatives to storm the forest and search the location.
Police Recover Rifles and Live Ammunition
During the operation, officers recovered two FN FAL rifles and live ammunition concealed inside the forest.
Adeh explained that the recovered weapons formed part of the arms allegedly supplied to criminal groups operating in the region.
She added that investigators continued to gather evidence to uncover the syndicate’s full operations.
Investigation Uncovers Arms Supply Network
Further investigations revealed that Musbahu Ishaq allegedly obtained firearms and ammunition from Rabiu Hassan.
Police said Ishaq later supplied the weapons to Baba Alhaji Sanusi, a suspected bandit kingpin currently on the run.
Authorities believe the wanted suspect operates from a forest hideout in Katsina State.
Police Intensify Manhunt for Remaining Suspects
Adeh said security operatives have intensified efforts to arrest other members of the syndicate.
She added that investigators also aim to recover more illegal weapons connected to the criminal network.
The police will prosecute all arrested suspects after completing investigations.
FCT Police Assure Residents of Sustained Operations
Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Ahmed Sanusi, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing.
He said security operations would continue until officers arrested every member of the syndicate.
“The command remains committed to intelligence-led policing, and ongoing operations will continue until all members of the syndicate are apprehended and brought to justice.”
The police also urged residents to provide timely and credible information through the nearest police station or the command’s emergency lines to support ongoing security operations.
