Gombe Police Rescue Abducted Eight-Year-Old Boy, Arrest Four Suspects

The Gombe State Police Command has rescued an eight-year-old boy abducted in Akko Local Government Area and arrested four suspects linked to the crime.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Thursday. He said intelligence-led operations led to the successful rescue of the child.

The victim was found unharmed and reunited with his family. Meanwhile, investigators have continued their probe. The police will charge the suspects after completing investigations.

Father Reported Child Missing

According to the statement, the boy’s father, Muhammadu Nabadara, reported the case at the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28.

He explained that his son left home around 6:30 a.m. on June 27 but never returned. As a result, detectives immediately launched a search and began investigating the disappearance.

Police Foil False Lead

On June 29, the victim’s family received a telephone call from someone claiming to know the child’s location.

However, officers verified the information and discovered it was false. Despite the setback, investigators continued gathering intelligence.

Intelligence Operation Leads to Arrests

The investigation recorded a breakthrough on June 30 when operatives arrested Abdullahi Mohammed of Jauro Musa Quarters in Kumo, Akko Local Government Area.

During interrogation, Mohammed allegedly confessed to conspiring with Mohammed Magaji, 35, Sale Sale, 23, and Walida Ya’u, 18, all from Kagarawal Quarters in Gombe.

Police officers later arrested the three additional suspects.

Victim Rescued Unharmed

Following the arrests, officers located the abducted boy in the suspects’ custody.

They rescued him without injuries and reunited him with his family.

The police confirmed that investigations remain ongoing. They also stated that prosecutors will arraign the suspects after the investigation concludes.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Public Safety

The Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Ahmed Chuso, praised the officers for their professionalism and swift response.

He commended the team for carrying out a successful rescue operation and urged residents to support security agencies with credible and timely information.

According to the statement, the command remains committed to protecting lives and property across Gombe State.

Ondo Police Rescue Kidnap Victim

In a related development, the Ondo State Police Command rescued a 61-year-old woman, Modupe Oladele, who was abducted by armed men in Owo, Owo Local Government Area.

The rescue highlights ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat kidnapping and improve public safety across Nigeria.
