Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya on Eid-el-Fitr hosted the Emir of Gombe, Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III, at the Government House in Gombe, where both leaders reaffirmed their strong partnership, reviewed seven years of governance, and celebrated peace, unity, and development in the state.
Strong Government–Traditional Institution Relationship
Governor Inuwa Yahaya praised the Emir for consistent support and guidance. He described the relationship with the Gombe Emirate Council as cordial and productive.
According to the Governor, the partnership has strengthened peace and accelerated development across the state. He added that traditional institutions remain vital to governance success.
Seven Years of Development and Progress
The Governor highlighted key achievements recorded over the past seven years. He said his administration has repositioned Gombe for sustainable growth.
He noted improvements in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and agriculture. In addition, he emphasized reforms that boosted economic development.
“We came with a clear vision to transform Gombe. Today, we see measurable progress across all sectors,” he stated.
Commitment to Lasting Legacies
Governor Yahaya stressed that his administration focuses on long-term impact. He explained that projects aim to benefit future generations.
“Our goal is to build lasting legacies, not just complete projects,” he said.
Furthermore, he assured residents that ongoing initiatives will continue to improve living standards.
Security and Unity Remain Top Priorities
The Governor reaffirmed his commitment to protecting lives and property. He said security remains the administration’s top priority.
He also urged citizens to sustain unity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence beyond Ramadan.
According to him, collective responsibility will preserve stability across communities.
Emir Commends Governor’s Leadership
Emir Abubakar Shehu Abubakar III praised the Governor’s leadership and achievements. He stated that Gombe has witnessed unprecedented development under the current administration.
“I am proud of you. Your leadership has transformed Gombe State,” the monarch said.
He added that the Governor fulfilled and exceeded campaign promises. He also commended his inclusive leadership style.
Landmark Projects and Urban Transformation
The Emir listed several key projects across the state. These include the upgraded Government House, the airport, and the Three-Arms Zone.
He also mentioned the Shehu Abubakar District and other developments.
According to him, these projects have transformed Gombe into a modern and attractive city. He noted that the state now emerges as a growing tourism hub.
Sallah Homage and Cultural Significance
The visit featured the symbolic presentation of Goron Sallah. A colourful durbar procession followed, showcasing cultural heritage and tradition.
This annual homage strengthens ties between the government and the traditional institution. It also allows leaders to celebrate Eid-el-Fitr together.
