Gunmen abducted Kibiya Local Government Secretary Hamza Musa in the early hours of Saturday in Dinya town, Kano State, after gaining access through deception and fleeing without gunfire.
How the Abduction Happened
According to local sources, about six gunmen carried out the operation swiftly and quietly. They avoided attracting attention and did not fire any shots.
First, the attackers approached the residence and tricked Musa’s son. They instructed him to pretend he was ill. As a result, the son called his father to come outside.
When Musa opened the door, the gunmen forced their way in immediately. They then abducted him along with his son. However, they later released the boy and escaped with Musa.
Community Reaction and Security Concerns
Residents described the incident as alarming due to its calculated execution. Moreover, the use of deception raised concerns about growing insecurity in the area.
Many locals now fear similar tactics could be used in future attacks.
Police Yet to Respond
As of the time of filing this report, the Kano State Police Command had not released an official statement.
Attempts to reach the police spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, were unsuccessful. He did not respond to calls placed to his mobile phone.
Rising Security Challenges in Kano
This incident highlights ongoing security concerns in parts of Kano State. In recent months, cases of abduction and criminal activities have increased in some communities.
Consequently, residents have called for stronger security measures and rapid response from law enforcement agencies.
