The House of Representatives has summoned National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu to appear before its Ad-Hoc Committee investigating the alleged Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC). The committee issued the invitation in Abuja to determine whether the council received official government approval, clarify national security concerns, and uncover the truth behind its operations.
House Committee Intensifies PFIPC Investigation
The invitation followed a statement from the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The ministry distanced the Federal Government from the alleged council and stated that it does not recognise the individual claiming to be its Director-General.
Consequently, lawmakers expanded their investigation to establish the legitimacy of the organisation and its activities.
Ribadu Expected to Clarify Security Concerns
Chairman of the Ad-Hoc Committee, Representative Yusuf Mikhail Adamu, said the National Security Adviser’s appearance would help resolve key issues.
According to him, the committee wants clarification on national security implications, government authorisation, and the operations of the alleged PFIPC.
He stressed that the investigation aims to establish the facts and determine whether any laws were violated.
Committee Vows Transparent Probe
Furthermore, Adamu assured Nigerians that the committee would conduct a thorough and transparent investigation.
He added that anyone found culpable would face accountability in line with the law.
The committee reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring transparency and protecting the integrity of government institutions.
