The Nigerian Navy has arrested three Nigerian boat drivers who allegedly tried to travel illegally to Europe aboard MV Maersk Calabar. The Navy found the men hiding inside the vessel’s propeller compartment on Monday. Officials intercepted them after receiving information about their presence on the merchant ship.
Three Stowaways Identified
The suspects are 30-year-old Isaiah Oyetayo, 26-year-old Goddey Samson and 28-year-old Popoola Felix.
According to the information available, the three men boarded MV Maersk Calabar without authorization. They then hid inside the vessel’s propeller compartment.
The men reportedly planned to use the merchant vessel to leave Nigeria for Europe.
Navy Receives Information About Stowaways
The Nigerian Navy acted after receiving information about the suspects aboard the vessel.
Personnel subsequently searched the ship and discovered the three men in the propeller compartment.
The Navy then took the suspects into custody for further investigation.
