The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, joined the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, CON, and other government leaders at the 2nd Quarter 2026 Citizens/Stakeholders’ Engagement in Lagos. The meeting brought together policymakers and industry stakeholders to review progress, strengthen collaboration, and accelerate the growth of Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy through innovation and sustainable maritime development.
Top Government Officials Attend Engagement
The event attracted several high-ranking government officials and maritime stakeholders. Among them were the Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Marine Transport, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni, Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, Mrs. Fatima Sugra Mahmood, and the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Senator (Dr.) Akon Etim Eyakenyi.
Their participation highlighted the growing commitment to developing Nigeria’s maritime sector through stronger partnerships.
Stakeholders Reaffirm Commitment to Blue Economy Growth
During the engagement, participants reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding Nigeria’s Marine and Blue Economy. They emphasized the importance of collaboration among government institutions, private sector operators, and other stakeholders.
Furthermore, discussions focused on promoting innovation, improving maritime governance, and encouraging sustainable development across the sector. The participants agreed that stronger cooperation will help unlock new investment opportunities, create jobs, and boost economic growth.
Marine Sector Remains Key to Economic Diversification
The engagement also underscored the Federal Government’s determination to position the marine and blue economy as a major contributor to national development. Stakeholders noted that continued dialogue and strategic partnerships remain essential to achieving long-term growth in Nigeria’s maritime industry.
