The Niger State Police Command arrested a 50-year-old meat seller, Usman Abubakar, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old boy in Angwan-Daji, Minna, on February 22, 2026, after the victim’s mother noticed injuries and reported the case, leading to police investigation and the suspect’s confession.
How the Incident Was Discovered
According to police reports, the boy returned home in visible discomfort. His mother quickly noticed he could not sit properly.
Moreover, she observed bruises and signs of pain. As a result, she questioned him about his condition.
The boy then identified a local meat seller as responsible. This disclosure prompted immediate action from the family.
Police Arrest and Confession
Following the report, officers from ‘A’ Division Minna acted swiftly. They arrested the suspect without delay.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed. He admitted that he used roasted meat to lure the boy to his shop.
Consequently, the police placed him in custody. Meanwhile, authorities subjected the victim to medical examination.
Police Response and Warning
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Elleman, strongly condemned the act. He assured the public of a thorough investigation.
Furthermore, he stated that the suspect would face full prosecution under the law.
Police spokesman Wasiu Abiodun also urged parents to stay vigilant. He emphasized the need to monitor children closely to prevent such crimes.
